Day 1

Although most boats found the fishing slow on the first day of the 2006 July Open, Blank Check recorded 3 releases for the top honors. Fifteen hookups were reported with 12 releases.

Lady Lou took the hard luck prize of the day fighting a estimated 600 pound Marlin for 4 hours 25 minutes before breaking it off. The fight took Lady Lou more then 10 miles from the original hookup location. Captain Puchy had the fish to the boat 3 to 4 times but the big fish just wouldn't cooperate.

Fishing continues on Saturday with lines in at 8 AM.
